Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our legal team, specialising primarily in Family Law, Criminal Law, and Wills & Estates. Bonus points if the candidate possesses experience in property law, including conveyancing, leasing, civil litigation, contracts, and employment law.
Responsibilities:
File Management: Independently run and manage legal files from opening to completion, with support from administrative staff when available.
Legal Practice Certificate: Hold a valid QLD practicing certificate (restricted or unrestricted)
Experience: Ideally, a minimum of 2 years post-admission experience is preferred, but we are open to considering talented individuals who are recent graduates.
Skills and Qualifications:
Legal Software: Proficient in SILQ legal software, Microsoft 365 suite, and familiar with Legal Aid Queensland grants online platform.
Communication: Strong communication skills to explain legal concepts to clients in a practical manner. Manage client expectations effectively to avoid disappointment.
Performance Metrics:
KPIs: Weekly tracking of billables via SILQ software platform. The solicitor is expected to bill 3 to 4 hours each day.
File Management: Successfully handle between 20 to 40 substantive files.
Probation Period: During the initial three months, the solicitor must bill an amount equivalent to their wages and superannuation.
Work Environment:
Supervision: Friendly and open work environment with mentoring and supervision provided as needed.
Adaptability: Open to adopting new technologies, including AI, to enhance service quality.
Professional Development:
CPD Points: Support and facilitate the acquisition of 10 CPD points annually, covering relevant courses and professional development opportunities.
Interview Process:
Scenario Evaluation: Candidates will be presented with common family law and criminal file scenarios during the interview to assess their knowledge and approach.
Values Alignment: Evaluate the candidate's alignment with our values, emphasizing legal advice that 'gets to the point' and minimises stress and cost.
Compensation and Growth Opportunities:
Base Salary: Competitive base salary, with the potential for increased earnings based on performance.
Commission: For exceptional candidates, a commission structure of 5% on billables, increasing to 15% after surpassing predetermined targets.
Relocation: Relocation costs may be covered for the right candidate.
